Finals Dash

NRL

NRL Dash pitted two fans against each other in a virtual sprint down a rugby field to the try line. Dressed as their favourite club mascot, along the way they have to dodge or bump obstacles much like their heroes in real life. They did this by running up and down on the spot and twisting their body to change directions.

The beauty of the game was in its simplicity. With no controllers to use other than themselves, on- boarding fans to play took only moments ensuring that more people got to have a turn at each event. There were no complex skills or domain specific abilities required meaning that the game was accessible to a large portion of people of most ages. Young could play old, men could play women and all enjoy the game for simply what it was.
