Summer Smash VR

SYDNEY CRICKET GROUND

Summer Smash is a first-person, virtual reality (VR) cricket game that gives fans the opportunity to face three overs as a batsmen on the SCG pitch. However the game is elevated to a whole new level with the addition of a range of arcade-inspired features such as a multi-ball, supersized ball, slow motion and bonus levels, one of which elevated the pitch 70 metres in the air to the same level as the SCG light towers.

The experience was built to be as accessible by using an actual bat as a controller. Whilst most VR activations tend to be individual pursuits, with the aid of the wireless VIVE Pro VR Headset, a green room and some truck-sized LED video screens, Pixeloco was able to take things up a notch using mixed reality and displaying players on the giant screens for everyone to see. Now friends, family and other fans from the crowd could cheer a new hero out on the virtual pitch.
